Leikaze KW75S keyboard unboxing

Tired of the shortcomings of the Dareu EK75? Switching to the Leigaze KW75S customized keyboard, the keycaps are rounded and feel decent, and the grey wood switches are surprisingly acceptable. However, the cost-performance ratio is low, the battery is small, plugging in the cable requires flipping the keyboard, and the protective cover doesn’t even fit securely—what a real hassle.

Preface

The previous keyboard, the Dareu EK75,was visually appealing but had various shortcomings that were hard to overlook.

Since both mass-produced and custom keyboards from such brands have their own issues, why not shift to a fully custom solution instead?

So I chose this LeleLAB KW75S kit.

This time,I can freely choose keycaps and switches to my heart's content.

Keycaps

The color scheme and keycaps I chose for my kit are the Dream Unicorn.
Among several options, it's not the most visually stunning, but it offers good value for money. The other color schemes and keycaps are around 100 yuan more expensive than this one.

The surface of these keycaps is relatively rounded and smooth, and they are also larger. They are quite different from the square and sharp-edged keycaps I used before. It's my first time using such rounded keycaps, and the feel is quite magical—much better than the previous type.

Look at the keycap details.

Switches

I originally wanted to choose TTC Gold Powder switches, but unfortunately, they're so popular that they're sold out everywhere. I had to switch to another option that seemed to have decent specs—the Grey Wood Shaft V3. However, after actually using them, they ended up being pretty nice~

Images

This time, I'm really being lazy again—only took one photo.

There's even one that was taken with other keyboards.

Take a look if you can.

If not, I'll go steal a few more from the official website.

Front

These keycaps are still very nice looking

Comparison with Another Keyboard

PS: This keyboard will be introduced in the next issue

Switches

This switch has a nice feel—although its actuation force isn't as light as those 35g switches, it feels great in hand. The sound isn't too loud, and the rebound is smooth and comfortable.

If I need to replace switches on my older keyboards (JZ750/Donkey A3) later, my first choice would be TTC Gold Pink, followed by this Grey Wood switch.

About Detachable Three-Direction Cable Routing

I also spent a long time searching before I found this term.

Let's just look at the picture:

This keyboard is the same as the one in the image below. The port is on the back, designed as a recessed area, allowing the cable to be routed in three directions.

This design has its pros and cons. Some say it can protect the USB cable connector, but I don't really like this design because every time I plug in the cable, I have to flip the keyboard over to insert it.

PS: My previous Black Canyon X3 keyboard had this design.

Summary of Pros and Cons

Pros:

  • Keycaps have a nice aesthetic
  • Gray Wood Switch V4 (灰木轴V4) offers a pleasant typing feel

Cons:

  • Relatively low value for money
  • Small battery (only 2000mAh)
  • Interface uses a detachable 3-direction cable routing design (which may be a pro for some users)
  • Included protective cover doesn't fit well; it's designed for a larger keyboard and doesn't sit securely
