京东京造JZ750 (JDonkey A3) Keyboard Unboxing

Tired of the old keyboard, I was drawn to the sleek design of the JD.com JZ750 with its rotary knob. However, the packaging was shoddy, and the build quality was shockingly loose. The Ice Crystal switches are smooth, but the layout is unconventional, with a bizarre placement of the arrow keys and no end key. For the sake of its looks, I endured it.

Foreword

PS: This is an old article, first published on the WeChat official account "画星星高手" on July 24, 2023.

I have been using a Cherry MX 1.0 keyboard (with red switches) that I bought in 2018 at home.

After several years of use, some keys have become unresponsive, and the feel of the larger keys is terrible.

So, I decided to get a new keyboard.

Those Mechanical Keyboards I've Used Over the Years

Let me count the keyboards I've used.

Brand/ModelSwitch TypeStatus
Some SpiderBlue Switch (青轴)Lost
RapooRed Switch (红轴)Damaged
DareuRed Switch (红轴)Damaged
Cherry MX1.0`Red Switch (红轴)In Use
Hexgears X3Box White (similar to Blue Switches)In Use

To sum up, I still prefer linear switches like the Red Switches—they have the best feel~

Keyboard Purchase

Went through three phases

  • Customized keyboards
  • 68-key layout
  • Return to 81+ key layout

Initially, I considered a customized keyboard, but since I hadn't tried it before, and considering the hassle, price, and other factors, I decided against it.

Black Fenix X1 Pro

I initially planned to continue buying a keyboard from the Black Fenix X series, as the one I use daily at work is the Black Fenix X3.

While browsing the official Black Fenix store, I selected this model, which looks quite nice. I had also been wanting to try a 68-layout compact keyboard (68配列的小键盘).

However, this one is not a custom keyboard.

In the end, I was persuaded to give up on it by "The Keyboard Master" (键盘带师).

I had already placed an order, but based on the advice from "The Keyboard Master," I canceled it. Too many missing keys would still be problematic, making daily work difficult.

After canceling, the search for the next keyboard began.

Later, I also considered the Black Fenix E series custom keyboard, but I wasn't satisfied with either its appearance or price.

Looks Are Justice

I don’t know much about keyboards from other brands
So I opened the browser to check some reviews and recommendations
Eventually, in a blog post, I came across the JD JZ750
I was immediately attracted by its design

It looks really good!
And it even has the knob I wanted the most!
I placed an order without hesitation.

This keyboard uses a custom "Ice Crystal Switches" (冰晶轴), with a feel similar to red switches—🆗 just what I wanted.

Unboxing

Summary

The build quality feels rather mediocre. Compared to my previous Cherry and Helix (黑峡谷) keyboards, it has a somewhat loose and flimsy feel. When you pick up the entire keyboard, you can tell the fit isn't very tight — pressing on it produces crackling and popping sounds.

The packaging is also much more perfunctory than Helix (黑峡谷)'s — there's not even a keyboard cover included, so I had to buy an acrylic protective cover on Pinduoduo (某多多).

But for the aesthetics, I can live with it.

The typing feel is actually pretty good. The switches are quite smooth, and the sound is relatively crisp. It's just that the 81-key layout takes some getting used to, with two main points:

  • The arrow key positions have changed
  • There's no End key — you need to use Fn+Home instead

Finally, here are the keyboard specifications:

PS: Hope Helix (黑峡谷) catches up soon.
