Most competitive ergonomic chair in the thousand-yuan price range? Real experience with Baoyou Jinhao You B Xiongying!

In Guangdong's summer, sitting on a mesh chair finally means no more being sweltered into an oily mess. The lumbar support can be adjusted independently, and when reclining, the legs and feet move forward in sync—quite a fancy linkage system, really. At around a thousand bucks, the value for money is decent, but the minor shortcomings of the headrest and footrest still need to be acknowledged.

Preface

Hello everyone, I'm Xiyuan~

Since entering the IT industry, I spend more and more time working in front of the computer every day.

Facing the screen for long periods not only causes eye fatigue but also puts a significant burden on my lower back.

To alleviate this, I first acquired a height-adjustable desk, which allows me to switch between sitting and standing, giving my lumbar spine a chance to rest.

However, ultimately, I still spend most of my time sitting while working.

Many of you have probably seen this image, but maintaining such a standard upright posture all the time is actually very tiring.

As a result, I often find myself unconsciously leaning forward while sitting.

An incorrect posture can cause the lumbar spine to endure multiplied pressure, which is a significant factor leading to lumbar disc herniation (腰椎间盘突出).

Ergonomic Chairs

At this point, a suitable ergonomic chair becomes extremely crucial.

Through thoughtful design, especially in providing lumbar support, it helps us maintain a more scientific sitting posture during long hours of work.

Therefore, choosing a chair that truly fits you can not only improve work comfort but also prevent lumbar issues to a certain extent.

I conducted a small research on this and concluded that a good ergonomic chair must at least feature the following aspects:

  • An adjustable headrest to support the cervical spine;
  • Flexible lumbar support to reduce lumbar pressure;
  • Adjustable armrests to relieve shoulder and neck fatigue;
  • And most importantly: a breathable and comfortable mesh!

This is especially true during the summers in Guangdong, where sitting all day in a hot and humid environment feels like torment.

My previous chair had a foam cushion, and every summer I had to add a bamboo mat on top just to endure it. But even then, it remained hot and stuffy.

Youi Jinhaoyou b Eagle

Finally, I set my sights on the Youi Jinhaoyou b Eagle.

Youi is a fairly representative mid-to-high-end brand among domestic ergonomic chairs, and its reputation in the same price range has always been quite good, making it a highly competitive choice.

The "b Eagle" model is positioned as an "all-around player" in this price segment—fully featured, made with quality materials, and with a relatively understated exterior design, suitable for long office hours.

The specific model I purchased has two aspects I particularly like:

  • Silver-White U.S. Mesh (Matrex Mesh): Compared to ordinary mesh fabric, it offers better elasticity, more even support, and improved breathability. During the summers in Guangdong, I can finally stop sweating profusely from being stifled.
  • Leg Comfort (Foldable Footrest): I really like this design. During lunch breaks, I can simply pull out the footrest, recline in the chair, and take a quick nap.

OK, let's skip the extra talk and move on to the much-anticipated unboxing segment.

Unboxing

Sorry, there are quite a few parts to assemble this time, and to avoid making this too long, let's just look at the fully assembled chair first~

I'll write a separate post for the unboxing and installation process—those interested in purchasing can refer to that detailed guide later.

Chair Body

The chair looks like this after assembly ⬇️

At first glance, its aesthetic appeal is indeed good. The silver-gray color scheme carries a subtle sense of understated luxury.

Placed next to my white standing desk, the overall combination is quite harmonious, offering a fresh yet stable vibe.

Here is another shot from a different angle, which more clearly reveals the chair’s outlines and layered textures:

Mesh Backrest

The material of the seat was also mentioned earlier, usually divided into two categories: mesh and foam.

My previous chair had a foam cushion, which was a disaster during Guangdong summers—I couldn’t sit on it without a bamboo mat, and even with one, it was still stuffy and hot.

After switching to mesh this time, the biggest takeaway has been: breathable! comfortable!

Most mid-to-high-end ergonomic chairs today tend to use imported mesh. Common options include Matrex from the U.S. and Wintex from Korea.

UE has always stuck with Matrex, and this time they’ve upgraded from Quantum 2.0 to Quantum 3.5, evolving the seat surface into a 12-zone pressure relief system for more flexible support.

So what does “zoning” mean?

It basically means the seat provides varying tension based on the different pressure points of the body:

  • Pelvis/hips → require stronger tension to ensure proper support;
  • Thighs → need relatively softer tension to avoid a “leg-pinching” pressure feel.

With this design, the feeling when sitting down is just the right balance between support and comfort.

Lumbar Support

One of BaoYou's signature features is the independent lumbar support with a dual-back design.

This lumbar support system can be adjusted up and down to fit different heights and fine-tuned according to personal preference. It's a true lifesaver for the lumbar spine! 🤣

Lumbar Support Elasticity Adjustment

This independent lumbar support also features support intensity adjustment (支撑力度调节).

Using the knob, you can easily adjust the forward and backward intensity of the lumbar support. For users with different body types and preferences, the knob allows you to increase or decrease the force of the lumbar support.

Linked Design

Even more impressive is its linkage system.

While many ergonomic chairs feature reclining functions, they often exhibit issues such as:

  • The lower back hanging unsupported;
  • The seat cushion pressing against the thighs;
  • The headrest being misaligned.

However, with chassis drift force-release (底盘漂移卸力), when the chair back reclines, the seat and leg rest move forward simultaneously, maintaining the relative positions of the lumbar, back, and neck against the chair throughout a smooth and natural motion.

Backrest Recline Resistance Adjustment

Although the "UB Eagle" offers four backrest locking positions, I personally prefer the unlocked mode.

Using the knob on the right side, you can adjust the backrest recline resistance, achieving:

  • Stable lumbar support when sitting upright;
  • A smooth recline to relax without requiring much effort;
  • Easy return to an upright position without bouncing back uncontrollably or requiring significant force.

I really like this feature. From my experience, it feels more natural than many other chairs, without that sense of "fighting against the chair."

Forward Tilt Adjustment

When I'm deeply focused on work, I often unconsciously lean forward (I believe many of you have the same habit).

The "Youb EAGLE" (优b雄鹰) also offers a solution for this: besides the common recline function, it provides a forward tilt position (前倾档位) and supports locking.

However, based on my personal preference, I use the unlocked state more often. Combined with appropriate tension adjustment, the chair naturally accommodates my posture, providing a relatively relaxed overall experience.

Armrest

Next is the armrest section.

It supports up-down, front-back, left-right movement, as well as horizontal rotation and front-end tilt, totaling 6-dimensional adjustments (6 个维度调节), which can nearly cover various sitting posture scenarios.

My own habit is:

  • Adjust the armrest front-back to the rearmost position;
  • Set the horizontal height to be level with the desk surface;

This way, the arms can naturally rest flat on both the armrest and the desk, while the chair can be brought as close to the table as possible, avoiding poor posture like leaning forward or hunching.

Headrest

This time, the headrest eliminates the division of high/low pillow models and directly adopts a headrest with a larger adjustment range, which can cover users with a height of approximately 155–190 cm.

Slightly regretfully, the adjustment dimensions still only include height adjustment and rotation, without adding forward/backward adjustment functionality. If there were a bit more freedom in the forward/backward direction, it would be even more perfect.

Footrest

For the footrest part, Baoyou gave it a name called Tang Shu Bao (Lying Comfort Treasure).

It features a two-stage folding design, which is longer and has a wider support mesh compared to common footrests.

My favorite usage scenario is this: after finishing work at night, I turn off the computer, recline the chair back, and pull out the Tang Shu Bao. Then I just sink into the chair to read a book—it's truly comfortable and relaxing.

Though the length is still slightly lacking, the good thing is that the mesh surface is wide enough. Resting your bent legs on it provides a good sense of support, and the overall experience remains very comfortable.

Operation Instructions

An instruction manual is included in the packaging, clearly illustrating how to adjust each function.

The number of features is truly extensive, and you can basically get an overview of the full configuration of the "Youb Eagle (优b雄鹰)" from this diagram.

I also took a photo as a backup, just in case I forget how to make a specific adjustment someday—I can always refer back to it.

Summary

Overall, after experiencing it, I am quite satisfied with this chair:

  • It is solidly built;
  • It is fully featured;
  • Most importantly, the seating comfort is truly excellent. The lumbar support is a quantum leap compared to my previous chair, making long office hours significantly less fatiguing.

At the price point of just over a thousand yuan, the value for money of the "U&b Eagle (优b雄鹰)" can be considered very high.

Apart from a few minor shortcomings mentioned above (like the headrest lacking forward/backward adjustment and the footrest being slightly short), its overall functionality has been pushed to an extreme.

If, in the future, the industrial design can be further improved—while maintaining the ergonomic utility, it also achieves a more refined appearance—then it would be even more perfect.

That's it for this review. If you found it helpful, give it a like to show your support. See you next time~
