First-time using a low-profile switch keyboard, Ajazz AK832Pro unboxing review

Portable? Huh, the Black Knight AK832Pro is so light it could double as a notebook cover, yet the small screen's time is ridiculously inaccurate, and the drivers can't even be adjusted. The typing feel? It's worse than a membrane keyboard—noisy all over, a total deal-breaker.

Preface

So here's the story.

I recently bought quite a few keyboards, you know.

I thought that was more than enough already.

But lately, I've been using my laptop more frequently.

The built-in keyboard on the laptop feels absolutely terrible.

Carrying a regular keyboard is also a bit heavy and not very portable.

So, I turned my attention to portable low-profile mechanical keyboards.

Hoping to strike a balance in terms of quality, feel, portability, and other aspects.

Generally, a 75% layout mechanical keyboard weighs around 800g, which is indeed a bit heavy to carry around.

Similar layout low-profile keyboards usually weigh 400-500g, which is significantly lighter.

Moreover, they are very thin, allowing them to perfectly overlay the laptop's keyboard.

OK, when I first started shopping, I still followed the mindset of buying a regular mechanical keyboard.

The selection criteria were nothing more than tri-mode connectivity, hot-swappable switches, and even a small screen.

So, for my first low-profile keyboard, I chose this Ajazz AK832 Pro.

Drivers

Suddenly realized I published the official account post but forgot to include the drivers section.

AJAZZ (黑爵) this model's drivers have quite a few features.

After opening it, it looks like this.

Complaint

I have to complain about one thing!

The time displayed on this small screen is wrong.

If you look at the image above, some of you may have noticed it as well.

Moreover, even after connecting the driver, the time still cannot be synchronized.

I couldn't find any place in the driver to modify the date and time either...

This is definitely a major issue. As a result, the time display on this small screen is essentially useless.

Usage Experience

First time using a low-profile keyboard

The experience is, it feels quite different from a regular mechanical keyboard

And it also fell far short of my expectations

This Ajazz low-profile keyboard has a relatively large battery, 2300mAh I believe, so it's heavier, over 700g+

The typing feel is hard to describe, probably just how low-profile keyboards are

It has a membrane keyboard feel, mushy, and there's a creaky, squeaky noise

In short, the previous advice from "keyboard gurus" to avoid it was justified

The typing feel of low-profile keyboards really isn't that great

I also bought another one from Redragon, it looks great, I'll write about it in the next post
